If you are reading this page, then you have probably been influenced by the ideas put forth by Rudolf Steiner 100 years ago. We are grateful for the tremendous breadth and depth of thought and heart brought forth by Dr. Steiner, and for the continuing influence of the Agriculture Course in our own lives and in the global community of farmers and stewards.
In the spirit of honoring those works and celebrating their goodness, we invite you to join us, beginning on Friday, October 4, as we read each of the Agriculture lectures aloud and discuss the meaning and impact of biodynamic farming. Following the path set forth with the Whitsun event 100 years ago, we will also work our way through the Karmic lectures, and hopefully the lectures for youth as well. We are attracting a multidisciplinary crowd for this in-depth exploration and celebration, including farmers, eurythmists, scientists, physicians, and more.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) was a poet, statesman, theater director, critic, and scientist. His remarkable versatility is reflected in his Faust drama, which he worked on for most of his life. I first read and experienced Goethe’s Faust in German in 1981 when I went as an exchange student to Dornach, Switzerland, to work as a stagehand on the full uncut production. It has been a companion ever since. I originally developed this story version at the request of the New York Branch of the Anthroposophical Society in 1999 in honor of the 250th anniversary of Goethe’s birth. By retelling the essential plot (condensed from over 24 hours of playing time) in a free rendering in English, I hope to bring a fresh life – a kind of artistic road map, if you will – to Goethe’s great poetic drama. I have tried to include all the main action and, in one instance, I have even added the events of a scene that Goethe envisioned, but never wrote. – Glen Williamson
